VOLKSWAGEN SHOWCASES NEW VARIANTS OF THE VIRTUS AND TAIGUN
Volkswagen recently unveiled upcoming variants for the Virtus and Taigun. These new variants only get cosmetic changes, and rejigs the line-up for both MQB-A0-IN platform-based vehicles. This announcement was made at the brand's recent conference in Jaipur. For the Taigun, VW has introduced two new trim levels: GT Plus Sport and GT Line. While the Taigun GT Plus Sport is only available with the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, TSI petrol engine; the GT Line is available with the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, TSI engine.
The Taigun GT Plus Sport variant comes with a number of visual differences from the standard Taigun. On the outside, it features red GT branding on the front grille, smoked LED headlamps, dark chrome door handles, red brake calipers and gloss black finish for the fender badges, alloy wheels, front grille, diffuser and side view mirrors. On the inside, it comes with contrast red stitching on the seats and steering wheel, along with gloss black inserts on the dashboard and 'GT' logos on the front seats.
Meanwhile, the GT Line variant comes with visual differences like GT badges on the door and blacked-out treatment instead of the chrome one, as compared to the standard versions of the Taigun. The VW SUV is now available with three different trim levels, namely the GT Edge, Chrome and Sport. The Virtus also gets a GT Plus Sport variant, with cosmetic changes similar to the Taigun GT Plus Sport. It also gets 16-inch alloy wheels, a black spoiler and inserts on the bumper along with black ORVMs.
As far as powertrains are concerned, both the Taigun and Virtus, come with VW's 1.5-litre, four-cylinder TSI motor putting out 148bhp and 250Nm of torque. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG transmission. The 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TSI motor churns out 114bhp and 178Nm of torque. This motor has an option of 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic. Bookings for these variants are already open, and VW will reveal prices soon.
