We’ve got our hands on every performance version of the Model S and Model X. From the P100D through to the Plaid, these are the six quickest Teslas money can buy. The question is, just how different is their performance? Let’s start with how they compare on paper. The Model S P100D rolls up with dual motors that combine to produce 671hp and 950Nm of torque. It tips the scales at around 2,100kg. As for the Model X P100D, its two motors combine for 534hp and 755Nm, and it’s a fair bit heavier than the Model S, weighing in at around 2,500kg. Then we have the Ravens. Both come with dual motors, and both the Model S & Model X produce 778hp and 1,140Nm. However, while the Model S weighs 2,255kg, the Model X comes in at 2,552kg. Then finally we have the Plaids. Both cars have ti-motors, and both produce 1,020hp and 1,420Nm. But just like the Raven, while the Model S weighs in at 2,190kg, the Model X is a whole lot heavier, coming in at 2,464kg. Ferrari unveils 12Cilindri: Successor to 812 Superfast with 819 HP priced at $423,000
Unveiling 12Cilindri: Ferrari, a brand that seamlessly blends tradition and cutting-edge technology, has unveiled its latest car, the 12Cilindri. This new model, revealed in Miami, is the successor to the 812 Superfast. The 12Cilindri’s name highlights its defining feature: the 12-cylinder engine. Engine Evolution: The 12Cilindri’s engine, a 6.5-litre, 65-degree unit, is the latest iteration of Ferrari’s F140 V-12. This engine, first seen in the Enzo two decades ago, now produces 819 naturally aspirated horsepower at 9,250 rpm and 500 pound-feet of torque at 7,250 rpm. The redline is set at a staggering 9,500 rpm. Emission Standards: Interestingly, the 12Cilindri does not rely on hybrid assistance. Ferrari has managed to meet all relevant emission standards purely through the engine’s design and performance. Engine Similarities: The 12Cilindri’s engine shares many features with the engine in the 812 Competizione. It has titanium connecting rods and a valvetrain that replaces the typical hydraulic lifters with a rigid system with roller finger followers. A unique feature is the “Aspirated Torque Shaping” system, which electronically modifies the torque curve in the third and fourth gears. Gearbox and Speed: The engine is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox mounted at the rear. This gearbox promises 30% quicker shifts than the 812’s transmission. The 12Cilindri can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds and reach 124 mph in less than 7.9 seconds. The Spider variant is slightly slower, with acceleration times of 2.95 seconds and 8.2 seconds, respectively. Both versions have a top speed of over 211 mph. Design and Dimensions: The 12Cilindri is slightly larger than the 812 Superfast in most dimensions, but its wheelbase is an inch shorter. The design is reminiscent of the Roma, with more technical detailing. The black panel ahead of the hood and between the lights is a nod to the plexiglass panel found on early examples of the 365 GTB/4 Daytona. Interior Features: Inside the 12Cilindri, you’ll find the traditional Ferrari steering wheel adorned with controls. Unlike many new models from the brand, there’s a central infotainment display. The cabin design is similar to the Purosangue, minus the rear seats. Advanced Control Systems: The 12Cilindri is equipped with Ferrari’s latest, ultra-advanced chassis control systems, including Side Slip Control 8, which quickly estimates tyre grip levels. It also features an independent four-wheel steering system, which can steer the rear tyres in opposite directions. Wheel sizes have increased from 20 to 21 inches. Weight and Stiffness: Ferrari only provides a dry weight for the 12Cilindri, so the exact weight is unknown. The dry weight for the coupe is 3,459 pounds and 3,571 pounds for the Spider. The 12Cilindri is 15% stiffer than the 812. Pricing and Availability: As expected, the 12Cilindri is not cheap. The coupe costs $423,000 (€395,000), and the convertible is priced at $466,000 (€435,000). It’s assumed that the 12Cilindri is already sold out for years to come, as is often the case with Ferraris, especially V-12 Ferraris.
