ALL-NEW CITROEN BASALT VISION SUV-COUPE UNVEILED, SET TO ROLL OUT BY LATE 2024

French automaker Citroen has revealed its latest creation, the Basalt Vision SUV-coupe, globally.

This sleek vehicle marks the fourth addition to Citroen’s C-Cubed lineup, following the C3 and eC3 hatchbacks, and the C3 Aircross SUV. Set to hit the Indian market in the latter half of 2024, the Basalt promises a fresh look and feel.

While still in the concept stage, Citroen assures us that what we see is pretty close to what will hit the roads, as reported by Autocar.

Breaking the tradition of alpha-numeric naming like its predecessors, the Basalt is set to be its own star under the C-Cubed banner. This model will be manufactured in India, with plans to export it to South America.

Citroen Basalt Vision: Exterior

Resembling its sibling, the C3 Aircross, the Basalt shares a strikingly similar appearance, especially in the front. Though there are slight tweaks like projector headlamps replacing the halogen ones, the Basalt maintains the familiar Citroen style.

Moving to the sides, its unique design stands out with squared-off wheel arch cladding and a sleek roofline meeting the boot. The absence of door claddings adds to its chic look. Riding on stylish alloy wheels, the Basalt retains the pull-type door handles.

Moving to the rear, the Basalt sports newly designed tail-lamps larger than those on the C3 Aircross with new LED signatures, and a dual-tone bumper.

Similar in size to the C3 Aircross, the Basalt measures about 4.3 meters in length, placing it in the midsize coupe-SUV segment alongside upcoming models like the Tata Curvv.

Citroen Basalt Vision: Interior

While interior details remain under wraps, expectations are high for upgrades from the C3 Aircross, including enhanced features like electric folding mirrors, automatic climate control, and more.

Citroen Basalt Vision: Powertrain

Powering the Basalt will be a 110 bhp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, with both manual and torque converter automatic options available. An all-electric variant is also in the pipeline, slated to join the lineup about six months after the petrol model’s release.
